Age With Grace & Dignity

Kathy Faenzi is a San Francisco Bay Area clinical gerontologist who provides support, comfort and guidance to seniors—and their families—facing the many challenges of aging. When you hire Faenzi Associates, you work directly with Kathy Faenzi and her Care Management Team. As a clinical gerontologist who has spent her career assisting seniors, Kathy meets with clients for ongoing consultation and designs a working action plan focused on solutions for immediate or long term needs. She provides compassion and a deep understanding of how the aging process affects both the individual and family members.

I developed an interest in working with older adults early in life and sought an education that covered all aspects of the science of aging—biological, clinical, psychological and social. Through my extensive training and experience, I’m able to help maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of my aging clients with professionalism, empathy and integrity. As an advocate for seniors throughout our community, I have worked with Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly and served as Director of Community Relations at Sunrise Senior Living and as co-facilitator of Senior Roundtable of San Mateo County. I love this work because it’s such a blessing to see someone go from the fear of losing independence to learning to cope with a new way of life. I celebrate that with each of my clients and let them know they’re special, no matter how much care they may need. They’re still the wonderful person they always were and they have a lot of wisdom and a lot of love to give. Whether you or a loved one is worried about declining health, mobility issues, failing memory, or the loss of independence, you can turn to us for solutions that respect you or your loved one’s dignity and individuality.

Alzheimer’s Turns Two Lives Upside Down: When we first met with Jane and John, they were facing multiple crises. Jane had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.  John was in fear of losing his wife to the disease, and was overwhelmed by the additional care he could not manage.
We developed a care plan to address the couple’s needs:

• Offered medical advocacy and medication management.
• Created nutritional guidelines, implemented a physical therapy program and introduced caregivers for daily tasks and companionship.
• Offered counseling to provide coping techniques to manage anxiety, disease symptoms and personal feelings of loss
• Encouraged increased couple time together to enhance lost connections

The care plan helped the couple achieve a level of stability which allowed them to self-manage their behavior and the illness itself. The nutritional plan and physical therapy increased Jane’s overall health and helped minimize her risk of falls. Our suggested program helped effectively manage their new situation. With both partners feeling better physically and mentally, their relationship and daily lives improved.
